How to prepare a plain rice?

I was watching travel & living channel in the tv today. There was a cookery show going on.It's name is "Cooking with heart and soul".All the dishes is made by the same cook and her name is kim or something, sorry forgot her name.It was very interesting to watch the show because the materials she uses to cook is some unknown creatures.

A particular dish is made with some creature which is so fleshy,Oh! my god, the lady just sliced everything from it,removing each parts from it.I guess she must have been a pure science biology student and well versed at slicing animal parts. She removes eyes, thin skin membrane, etc apart.
Whack! I felt like vomitting. After slicing, it was like an octopus which she fried .The dish was well decorated and it merely look like an potato chips.

The next dish on the show --- can you guess???

It was with rice.I thought she is going to make a special dish with rice.Hmm to my surprise she just taught how to cook a "PLAIN RICE". I was about to laugh while watching it.

I used to watch cookery shows just to know how the cook handles the items and the way she cooks and I don't take notice of how to prepare a dish. But this show was very different ,you can see different creatures which you missed out in animal planet :-)

I said i don't prepare dishes by watching cookery shows. It doesn't mean that i cook badly or i do not know how to cook.
Hope you know many shows are watched by public just to admire the host/hostess.

In this age where most people in the western countries do a 'freezer to microwave to table', these are real skills.

I really used to enjoy some shows on the food channel. The way the host(ess) cuts vegetables, the way they smell the flavour... used to make me hungry!!!

Niraiya peru saadham vadikka kooda theriyama sodhappuvanga.. Paavan, avangalukkavadhu useful-a irundhirukkum..

I think, before showing cooking of any NV item, they should explicitly announce or keep something running on the screen "NV item.. Those allergic to seeing flesh, plz. change the channel" or some such thing.. I can understand your agony...

Me feels "Plain Rice Preparation" is solely for the benefit of those non-Indian girls who fall head over heels with an Indian guy and would like to impress them :-P

LOL...tht was a fun read! I think i agree with Uma(chennai pages).

Yesterday i went for dinner to an indian restaurant here in london...n these items were there on the list -- 'lobster ke panje', 'karara kekda (crab)' and the next one guess waad 'talkali makdi (squid)'...yikess!!

me being a veggie cant digest the thought of eating an animal...the day isnt far when some of us become cannibals n start eating human beings as well!
