I bought Ilaiyaraja's Thiruvasagam audio cassette yesterday and was very eager to hear it.On the cover it was written"Hungary Symphony group & 120 singers".Totally 6 songs,5 songs sung by Ilaiyaraja & some.
The music is more of a western sort.Didn't imagine a thiruvasagam with this kind of music,but a different approach & some lines also sung by hungarian singers.
The song"Polla vinayen......"is excellent and a long one."Nama Shivaya Vazhaga.... Nanthanthal Vazhaga......"is the most touching lines in Thiruvasagam.
Some feel that Thiruvasagam composed with western music not much appreciated,doesn't have a divinity.But accolades to IlaiyaRaja for his effort.

I got a chance to hear first few minutes of the CD...Oh man its out of the world..It gives some vibrations inside which I cannot explain... Considering the fact that I have no idea about how thiruvasagam has be sung...The music is amazing..
err..forgive my ignorance..what is thiruvasagam?

thanks for the review on Maestro's Thiruvasagam, i have been wanting to buy/hear the CD for a while now and didn't know where i could find it here in US, but thatz great to know about the western Hungarian influence that Raja has brought into our religious work.

the thiruvasagam is awesome music, it grows on u. when iheard it for the first time it didnt make too much of an impression on me, but after listening to it a few more times i simply loved it!! its awesome, i dont care much about what the critics say cause they ll have to shout something otherwise theyll loose their relevance. but the music is such that it grows on u, the more u listen to it, the more enjoyable it becomes

Never was fancied by thiruvasagam, though i was too eager to buy the CD myself... The CD is now lying idle for the last 2 mths and the only time i heard was the first time :o)

hey, i have only word for the TIS (Tiruvasagam in Symphony) - Its SIMPLY AWESOME !
I loved all the tracks. The voice of Bhavatharini adds a unique feel to the songs.
The last track is my favourite, where Ilayaraja talks and sings live. It just touches the chords of your heart.
